Learn More, Collaborate More, Be More Impactful

Although we were founded in 2014, we at the Leifer Family Fund bring a combined 60 years of Jewish professional and lay-leadership experience to help young organizations and new initiatives grow to become self-sustaining pillars of 21st century Jewish life.

Our “sweet spot” is organizations 2 to 8 years old with proven program models and small staffs, looking to scale across Jewish communities in North America.

While we fund across North America (and occasionally in Israel), we favor initiatives that align with our mission to support a vibrant Boston Jewish community.

We favor organizations with strategic plans, three-year budgets and operational plans, and commitments to begin their accelerated rollouts. We multiply the impact of our funding by working with other leading Jewish family foundations with professional staffs.

We roll up our sleeves and often get involved in business plan design, monitoring the progress of fundraising and rollout activities in the early years of our partners’ expansion plans.

We are happy to share the knowledge we gain with other funders in the quest to help organizations to meet their expansion goals and get commitments from sustaining groups of funders once they have achieved their project goals.

As a young organization, we are constantly looking to refine our processes and hear about the Jewish social entrepreneurs our colleagues are excited about.

Thanks to the Leifer Family Fund, we’ve been able to open eight more Moishe Houses, engage thousands of young Jewish adults, and create a partnership with CJP. They’ve been an essential part of our success.
